                                         Unit 5 Going shopping

                                             第一课时

【课题】Comic strip and welcome to the unit

【教学目标】:1.介绍适合青少年的普通礼物的有关词汇。

                   2.能就有关购买礼物方面的话题展开对话。

                   3.学会一种记忆单词的有效方法:将单词归类整理

                   4. Teaching points:

                   Words:   birthday already wallet  free, sticker present yo-yo idea

                   Phrases:  go shopping , a lot of , comic book  ,music box ,be free .

                             carry bags ,a pencil-box .shopping mall, hair clip, photo album.

                   Sentences: Simon's birthday is coming up.

                              What do you think ?

                              Do you have any good ideas?

                              I want you to go shopping with me today.

                              I need you to carry all the bags.

                              He likes playing football                     

【教学重点】: 普通礼物的有关词汇记忆

【教学难点】重点句型理解与运用                                                 

【教学过程】:Step 1. Warm-up

                                1. Greet each other and have a free talk.

                                2. Ask Ss to give a duty report, and then ask

                                answer questions according to the report.

                        Step 2. Introduction

                                1.introduce the topic of shopping like this:

                                 T: What do you often do on Sundays?

                                S1: I often do my homework/ help my parents do

                                   some housework…

                                T: Do you often go shopping?         S: …

                                T: Where do you often go shopping?   S: …

                                T: Who do you often go shopping?     S: …

                                T: What do you usually buy?          S: …

                                T: Do you like shopping?             S: …

                                2. Show the comic strips and introduce them and

                              teach some new words in this section.

                   Step 3   Read and act

                              1. Ask the Ss read the dialogue, in pairs in

                              groups or together.

                              2. let the Ss practise the dialogue in pairs.

                              3. Ask several groups to act the dialogue out.

                   Step 4   Summary

                              Help the Ss to sum up what they have learned in

                              the section.

                   Step 5   Talk about the presents with the Ss. and ask the Ss:

                            Do your parents give you presents on your

                              birthday? What presents do they often give you?

                              List the Ss’ presents on the blackboard. Try to

                              think of as many presents as they can.

                            

                              1. Look at the pictures in Part 71, learn the new

                              words, you can also bring some real objects to

                              show the Ss.

                              2. Go through the words in the word box.

                              3. Go through the answers with the class. Identify

                              the words which students do not know and present

                              them.

                              4. Ask students to look at the pictures again and

                              report which presents are suitable for girls and

                              which ones are suitable for boys. You may ask the

                              Ss like this: Is teddy bear the right present for

                              girls boys / for boys or girls?

                              5. Tell students to write down the suitable

                              presents for Simon and Sandy in Part A2. Point out

                              to them that some presents are suitable for both.

                              6. Ask students to check their lists in pairs.

                              Step 4 Practise

                              Ask students to write a present list containing

                              items which they think their partners would like.

                              Ask them to list your things.

                              Write the following models on the board.

                              ‘Do you like …for your birthday?’

                              ‘Yes, I like …very much. /No, I don’t like …  What

                              about you?

                              Using the models, students make similar dialogues,

                              trying to ask about the different things as

                              presents.

【课题】:Reading  1

【教学目标】:1.增强学生语篇意识。

                         2.能用适当的语言描述自己的需要。

                          3.从对话中了解关于购物的信息。

                          4. Teaching points:

                   Words: minute, cost, expensive,shopkeeper, quite, high,match,

                              pretty, mind,somthing.discount,cut,,unusual.

                   Phrases:  take a look, over here, never mind, look for,

                              just a minute,football cards,go well with, as much as.

                   Sentences: Can I help you ?

                              what are you looking for?

                              How much do the cards cost?

                              I don't have enough money to buy her a CD then.

                              How much are they?

                              I'll buy them.

                              That's quite expensive.

                              There's a discount on last year's cards.

                              They match her favourite T-shirt!

【教学过程】:Step 1  Revision

                              1.Duty report. Ask a student to make a duty report

                              and then ask and answer some questions about it.

                              2. Revise the last class: by having a talk with

                              the Ss:

                               T: Tomorrow is my son’s birthday. I went to give

                               him a present. What can I buy for my son? Can you

                               help me ?

                              S1: A walkman     S2: A CD.      S3: A comic book…

                              3. let the Ss work in pairs , make dialogues after

                               the model.

                Step 2  Presentation

                          1. Ask the students questions like, Do you like…

                              for your birthday?

                              Then let the students work in pairs , asking each

                              other questions.

                              2. Tell the students to look at the picture on

                              P-72 and ask them:

                              Where is Amy ? (In a shop)

                              What is she doing? (choosing presents for her   friends.)

                 Step 3  Read and Act

                              1 Ask students to skim the conversations on their

                              own and underline any words they do not know.

                              Encourage them to guess the meanings of these

                              words from the contexts.

                              2 Teach some new words:   cost   expensive  

                              discount   hair clips never mind      pretty

                              3 Ask some questions to help the Ss’ understand.

                               What does Amy want to buy?

                               How much do the new cards cost?

                               How much are the old ones?

                               What does Amy prefer, the new cards  or the old ones?

                               How much are the stickers?

                              4. Students listen and repeat.

                              5 In pairs, have students to read and act out the

                              dialogues to the class.

                 Step 4 Make up dialogues

                              Make up dialogues like this in pairs. eg: try to

                              choose a present for your mother, father or

                              grandparnts. Make some similar dialogues as in the

                              text.

                              1  Copy the new words..

【课题】Reading 2

【教学目标】:1.通过对话掌握描述自己的需要和用英语如何进行购物的对话

                         2.处理课后练习。

【教学重点】:购物的对话用语。

 【教学难点】:购物的对话用语正确运用。

 【教学过程】:step 1 Revision

                              1 .Check homework.

                              2 Divide the class into pairs.  Ask the Ss

                               to read the dialogues in Part A in pairs.

                              3  .Students change roles and read the

                              dialogues again . 

               Step 2 Presentation

                              1 .Ask students to do Part

                              B1individually.Encourage students to guess the

                              meanings of words from the content and the given

                              definitions.

                              2 .Ask students to write new sentences using

                              one of the identified words; You can give some as

                              examples: This new coat is 200 yuan. That’s

                              expensive.  This pen is 3 yuan. That’s not

                              expensive.

           3 Ask the Ss to read the sentences to each  other.

           4  Ask students to look at table in Part B2.

            Explain that Amy did a survey of the most popular presents her friends would like to  receive.    

            Ask some questions to check you understanding.e.g.,

           How many girls would like to get hair clips as a present?

           What is the most popular present for boys?

          Who like comic book, boys or girls?

          Do girls in Amy’s class like football?

          Step 3  practise

                              1 Make a survey. Four Ss a group, one student

                                write down the results of the survey in his group,

                             list at least 6 presents and then make a survey in the group.

                              2. Ask several Ss to report his survey. He may say:

                                In my group, all of us like computer games. 2

                              girls like hair clip. 3 students like interesting books, …

                              3. While the Ss report their survey, let a student

                              draw a table on the blackboard to record the

                               things they like and the total number of the Ss who like this object.

                              4. Let the Ss work in pairs according to the table

                           on the blackboard . eg: S1: How many Ss would like

                            computer games in our class? S2: Thirty …

             Step 4 consolidation

                 1. let the Ss write a short passage according to  the table on the blackboard. Eg:

In our class , 30 Ss would like computer games as birthday presents .All the girls would like to get hair clips .

 2. Solve the problem in part C. let the Ss do part  C in pairs, have a discussion , try to solve the

  problem: What can kitty buy for Sandy and Simon ?

 Then check their answers.

                               第四课时

【课题】Vocabulary

【教学目标】:1.认识商品与特定商店的联系。

                        2.能读写相关词语。

                        3.需掌握:Words: bookshop,electrical.

                        Phrases:clothes shop, sports shop,food shop,shoe shop ,toy shop,be good for,

                              electrical shop,different kinds of,birthday party.

                        Sentences:  We can find something good for him in a sports shop .

                                   If you want to buy a Walkman, you can go to an electrical shop.

【教学重点】:单词,短语的记忆与运用 。

【教学难点】:单词,短语的记忆与运用

【教学过程】Step 1 Revision

                              1.Ask several pairs to act out the dialogue

                              2 Let the Ss ask as many questions about the

                              dialogue in P72 as possible, the other

                              3. try to give the answer : eg: Where’s Amy ? 

                              Who does she went bo buy presents for?

                                What does she want to buy?

                                How much are the new cards/ the old cards?

            Step 2 Presentation

                              1.Try to let Ss know different kinds of shops.                         

                          eg.    T: I want to buy my mother a coat. Which shop

                              shall I go to ?

                              S: Clothes shop.

                              T: What’s in the clothes shop?

                              S: There are many kinds of clothes in it. You can

                              buy coats, dresses.

                              T: I want to buy my son a football. Which shop

                              shall I go to ?

                              S: Sports shop.

                              T: What other things can we get in a sports shop…

                              2.Before looking at the pictures ,ask them to list

                              as many shops as they can. 

                              3.Open books at page 75 and look at the pictures

                              .ask some able students to tell what things

                              they can buy in those shops, and write some of the

                              items next to the pictures.

                              4.Check the answers. And teach the new words.

           Step 3 Word study

                              1 For stronger students, say some more new words,

                              e.g.,

                              2 Ask students to draw shops from the nearest

                              shopping mall. Tell them to write the names of the

                              shops in large letters above the shops .

           Step 4 Reading and writing

                              1 Read the new words then read one by one.

                              2 Use the new words we have learned to make

                              sentences. e.g.,

                              1)I can buy TVs.( radios, fridges, washing

                              machines, and so on. )

                              2) We students often buy study books from the book

                              shop.(buy … from)

           step 5 practise

                              1 Ask students to look the pictures in Part B and

                              describe / name the objects. Tell them to write

                              the correct letters under the pictures.

                              2 Then students match these items with the shops

                              in part A by writing the correct number in each of

                              the boxes.

                              3. Ask Ss to make a dialogue according to each

                              picture: eg:

                               What’s this? / What’re there? They’re

                              regetables/...

                                Where can I buy them? We can buy them in …shop.

                              How much is it / are they? It’s / They’re…  Oh,

                              it’s / they’re expensive.

                              4. Make similar dialogues with the other pictures.

                              Act them out.

          Step 6 Homework

                              1   Ask the students to recite the dialogue

                              2   Do some more exercises.

                             .

                                                  第五课时

【课题】Grammar

【教学目标】:1.了解现在进行时态的构成及使用情况。

                        2.能根据情境正确使用现在进行时态谈论正在发生的的事情。

                       3..需掌握:

                              Words:  pay, study,visit,, wait,turn,invite,moment.

                            Phrases: at present,right now, invite...to,wait for,half past four,  pay for…, ice cream,

                                       look at      ,shopping bags,        at the moment    ,practise football.

                              Sentences:  I’m looking for a football.

                                          They are looking for a football.

                                          He is looking for a football.

                                          We are waiting for our friends.

                                          We want to go shopping together.

【教学重点】:现在进行时态的构成及使用情况

 【教学难点】:能根据情境正确使用现在进行时态谈论正在发生的的事情

【教学过程】: Step 1 Ask students questions remember it is essential

                              to arouse students’ interest.

                              Ask students  What are you doing,  … ? Are you

                              writing a letter to me ?Are you singing? Are you

                              swimming now? Are you playing the piano right now?

               step 2 Ask students to study the table on page 77.Go

                              through the table with them. Point out that we can

                              make negative sentences by adding ‘not’ after the

                              verb ‘to be’.

                              1)  I am (not) eating. You /We/They are(not) … .

                              He /She/It is not   … ?

               step 3.Do some actions and help the Ss to describe them

                              correctly.

                                     e.g., I am talking . I am drawing. I’m not

                              sleeping               

              step 4.Ask one student to give some actions, let the

                              other Ss guess What’s he/ she doing? Eg:

                               He’s flying a kite. He’s playing football.

               Step 5 Read and act

                              1)  Ask students to look at the picture in part B1

                              and describe it .

                             2 ) Ask the students to check the answers in pairs

                            3 ) Ask students to workout the rule then read together.

                             4) Explain to students how we form the ‘-ing’ form

                               of a verb with reference to the table on page 78

                            5) Tell students that when we ask questions about

                            what people are doing, we use the present  continuous tense,

                                 read through the tables on  P 78.

                             6) Tell student that Sandy and Amy are talking on  the phone.

                             Ask them to complete the dialogue in   B2. Check their answers.

                            7) If time permits ,ask students to make up their own dialogue and then make it out.

                    step 6 Using these phrases in present continuous tense.                                    

                              eg: clean the room, watch TV, play computer games.....

                    Step 7 Homework

                              1 .Additional exercises

                              2. Preview Integrated skills.
